The Standard Mental Health First Aid course supports participants to confidently offer initial care to an adult experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis, until professional support is available or the situation begins to settle.

Participants gain a clear understanding of common mental health conditions in adults, including early signs, changing symptoms, and when concerns may be escalating. The course also explores evidence-based treatment options and the supports available within the community.

Using a practical, evidence-informed action plan, participants learn how to approach someone with care, open a supportive conversation, and respond thoughtfully. The course builds confidence in offering initial support and guidance and in encouraging appropriate professional or community support when needed.

Adults who complete the course become Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders), equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to provide someone with mental health information and support when it matters most.
